Orthodontic Treatment

We are delighted to be able to provide fixed and non-fixed appliances to straighten teeth.

Consultation

Our orthodontic assessment is a thorough evaluation designed to provide a complete picture of your dental health, bite alignment, and facial aesthetics. This comprehensive approach ensures that we can develop a personalised treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals.

Extra-Oral and Intra-Oral Examination

Both extra-oral and intra-oral examinations are conducterd to assess facial proportions, jaw alignment, and dental occlusion. This comprehensive evaluation allows her to identify any underlying issues and determine the most effective treatment approach.

Intra-Oral Scan

Our advanced intra-oral scanning technology enables us to create precise digital impressions of your teeth and bite. This non-invasive procedure eliminates the need for traditional impressions, providing a comfortable experience while ensuring unparalleled accuracy in treatment planning.

Photographs

High-quality photographs of your smile from various angles allow us to assess facial aesthetics, dental symmetry, and the overall harmony of your smile. These images serve as a valuable reference point throughout your orthodontic journey, enabling us to track progress and optimize treatment outcomes.

Full Mouth X-ray (Panoramic X-ray)

A full mouth X-ray provides a comprehensive view of your teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures. This diagnostic tool allows us to evaluate the position of your teeth, identify any underlying issues such as impacted teeth or bone abnormalities, and develop a customized treatment approach tailored to your unique needs.

Upper Removable Appliance (URA)

An upper removable appliance (URA) is a type of orthodontic device used to address various dental issues, such as tooth alignment or bite problems.

It consists of a custom-made acrylic plate that fits on the roof of the mouth and may include wires, springs, or other components to apply gentle pressure to move teeth into their correct positions. URAs are often used in early orthodontic treatment for children or in cases where minor adjustments are needed. They are removable, allowing for easier cleaning and maintenance, but need to be worn as instructed by the orthodontist for optimal effectiveness.

Twin Block Appliance (TBA)

A Twin Block appliance is a type of orthodontic device commonly used to correct the alignment of the jaw and teeth in growing patients (age 11-14). They are particularly beneficial in cases of an increased overjet (projection of the top front teeth) and skeletal II pattern (setback lower jaw). This brace consists of two separate acrylic plates, one for the upper jaw and one for the lower jaw, which are designed to fit together in a specific way to encourage harmonious jaw alignment and bite correction. The design aims to reposition the lower jaw forward, helping to bring it into better alignment, thus improving the overall bite and facial profile.

Fixed braces

Fixed braces are a powerful solution for correcting complex orthodontic issues such as severe misalignment, overcrowding, and various bite problems. Each bracket is individual to each tooth, which prescribes optimal tooth positioning. They are bonded to the teeth, applying continuous pressure for predictable results and minimal patient effort. Unlike removable aligners, fixed braces don’t rely on patient compliance, making them a convenient choice for anyone, especially those who may forget to wear removable devices. Suitable for all ages, fixed braces can be metal (stainless-steel) or clear (ceramic) depending on patient preference. Fixed braces can also be customised to straighten a limited number of teeth (sectional) for those who wish to have a short course of orthodontic treatment to improve smile aesthetics, or a full brace, to improve straightness, whilst also optimising function.

Retainers

Retainers are required at the end of orthodontic treatment to maintain the corrected result. Retainers should be worn on a part-time basis for life to maintain the result. A plastic pressure formed retainer is included in the cost of fixed/aligner treatment. Some tooth positions have an increased risk of relapse (gaps/rotations) for those patient /patients who choose to have a bonded retainer - this is fixed wire retainer which is "permanently" bonded to the inside surface of the front teeth.
